Brownie Interest Day

On Sunday 11th September 2011 500 Brownies and leaders from across Girlguiding Sussex East joined the day long celebrations at Blacklands Farm, which included trying out either Bouldering, Tunnels or Low Ropes from the activities on offer at Blacklands. Other activities that the Brownies could enjoy included an Inflatable Maze, Giant Jenga, face painting, simulated wounds, an Inflatable Assault Course and handbells. Also joining in the fun on the day, were animals from Blackberry Farm – Whitesmith, bugs from Drusillas, the British Red Cross, the Air Ambulance, the Environment Agency, South East Water, and the RSPB.

“Wicked and amazing” said Lily, aged 7, from 2nd Hailsham Brownies when asked what she thought of the day. “My favourite activity was stroking the animals. The rabbit was very soft.”

Emily, aged 8, from 1st Westfield Brownies said: “I’ve had a good time and I really like the huge bouncy assault course.”

“Fun and enjoyable, the favourite thing I like is looking at the environmental stand and the rainbow maze.” Said Amelia, aged 8, from 8th Seaford Brownies.

Alison Edgar, Joint County Commissioner said: “This day has been able to give girls the chance to experience a wide range of activities that ties into the adventurous programme that Brownies can experience week by week in their unit meetings. The girls all had great fun, and we would like to thank the organisations that helped us make this day possible.”
